Before the procedure, you should follow these important safety rules. If
not followed, your procedure may be delayed or cancelled.
- Do not eat or drink anything after midnight
the night before your procedure unless your physician instructs otherwise.
This includes
food, liquids,
water, candy, lozenges, gum, and chewing tobacco.
- Do not smoke after midnight the night before
your procedure.
- Please do not drink any alcoholic beverages
for 24 hours before your procedure.
- Most routine medications can be taken on the
day of your procedure. However, do not take any fluid pill, sugar
pill,
blood thinner,
or insulin on the day of your procedure. Please stop taking
any herbal
supplements
two weeks prior to your visit. Specific instructions for
your scheduled procedure will be reviewed during the phone
interview.
- Please do not bring children to the Endoscopy
Center.
- Please do not bring valuables such as jewelry
to the Endoscopy Center.
